Classes & Workshops
ThreadBear Fiber Arts Studio Website - 517-703-9276 Class - Not sure, maybe mittens again, maybe gloves, maybe design. Call the boys and tell 'em what you think! Back to Lansing, this time in the fall! We had such a nice time in February, I can't wait to get back and see everyone's projects. Hopefully I won't be recoverring from flu this time around. Yes! I can teach a class! 6 hours, one or two sessions. I also have a Powerpoint presentation which I can present to your guild or other group. Hear the story behind Norway's most beloved traditional mitten style, the Selbuvotter, while you learn to make some for yourself. You will knit an original two-color design based on a year's research studying old mittens and gloves from Norway. Techniques to be covered include stranded knitting, a stranded cuff, shaping the thumb gusset, shaping the pointed fingertip, and working the thumb. In addition, students can examine thirty sample mittens and gloves from Terri's book, recreated from actual antiques and museum collections. Designing your own mittens and modifying mitten patterns to make gloves will also be discussed. Students will need proficiency knitting in the round with dp needles, and should be ready to knit stranded patterns in two colors. Materials: Two colors of yarn and DPN needles appropriate to the yarn. Fingering weight yarn and size US 2 needles will make toddler size mittens, worsted weight yarn and size US 4 needles will make adult size.
Event Organizers: Contact me to schedule a class. |
